Muslim search job in Saudi Arabian?
In the six years I’ve been in Saudi Arabia, I’ve been treated with nothing but respect, friendliness and politeness from all walks of society, from the police to military security personnel to government officials. I was once refused entry to a shopping mall because I was inappropriately dressed - I was wearing knee-length shorts, but even here, the guard who turned me away wasn’t officious or aggressive (unlike some law-enforcement officers in the US I’ve encountered) but polite and firm.
From the stories I’ve heard, even when falling afoul of the religious police, they weren’t harsh and abrasive towards us expats compared to how they treated their own. My Pakistani friend who’s a Hindu was in the same shopping mall with his wife, and as is their custom, she had a black dot on her forehead to indicate she was married. A mutawah (religious police) went to my friend and discretely asked him to tell her not to come into the mall like that again. That was two years ago and their presence and powers have been curbed by the new regime since then.
I have heard however, several stories of working class non-Muslims being subject to sterner treatment by the authorities. With local Saudis however, in general I’ve witnessed that they’re pretty amicable towards non-professional expat non-Muslims.
Non Muslims are treated as second-class citizens within Saudi Arabian law officially, but they are under the table treated better than even Shia Muslims as well. As long as you do not directly say your religion and only give subtle hints, then you will be treated well, especially Europeans. Saudi Arabia now is treating them much better, as Saudis secretly have alcohol parties and drugs in their palaces. Saudis do not follow true Islamic values, such as treating Non-Muslims with a certain amount of respect and professionalism as well as Muslims
